Jardin Vertical

Madrid is constantly striving to improve the climate in the city center and there are always ambitious, larger but also smaller projects being implemented. One of these smaller projects is the "Jardin Vertical" at Plaza de Estrellas, which is intended to improve the microclimate of the square and, with its shading, to create quality space for the hot seasons. Connected directly to the supporting structure of the WiZink Center, it uses the design structure of the venue hall and pushes several "planting boxes" into the structure of its two levels. Generous planting provides sufficient shade for the seating, which is positioned around a small, central pool of water. The playful offset of the "planting boxes" and the precise planning of the planting creates a green city sculpture.
